Impromptu Speaking
The need to speak completely unprepared may arise on any occasion, whether social or work-based, where a group of people, large or small, has come together. In this course we show you how to deal with those occasions when you are not expecting to speak but are suddenly asked to do so (the invitation typically being something like "I’d like to ask so-and-so to say a few words").
This can catch you unawares, and make your response (if you can think of one) sound leaden and flat-footed.
The fact that you think of the perfect thing to say five minutes later is no consolation! If you can come up with an apt and well-delivered response you will gain a reputation for being quick-witted and for having the ability to think on your feet (even if you are sitting down at the time!)
First, we show you how to anticipate such occasions. We then teach you several formulae which you can use to get your mind into gear and your thoughts into order at a second's notice.
Then we coach you in using the technique in any situation.
Finally we offer suggestions as to how you can practise your off-the-cuff speaking - which is not as silly as it sounds.
These techniques will also help you to deliver an excellent vote of thanks.
