Conversation Skills

Conversation SkillsAt business or social gatherings do you feel handicapped by your lack of conversation? Or feel that you don’t know what to say to people?

Perhaps you dread getting there in case you don't know anyone.

Some people won't go to parties because they are afraid of being left on their own with no one to talk to. They may dread having to go to business events.

In this six-session course we show you not only how to deal with all these worries, but also how to approach these events in a more positive frame of mind.

The golden rule is - find out about the people you will meet and encourage them to talk about themselves and their interests.

Session 1 - you; your attitude towards social occasions, both formal and informal; and what your experiences have been.

Session 2 - how to prepare things to say; how to start a conversation; how to finish a conversation; how to extract yourself if you get stuck. When to arrive.

Session 3 - studying groups of people to ascertain which may be approached successfully and which may not. Listening for and recognising verbal clues.

Session 4 - keeping the conversation going. Talking about host, hostess and others.

Session 5 - talking in social situations.

Session 6 - talking in business situations.
